As a human being I am more than my skin color. If you were to look at me, however, many would make an instant value judgment as to the nature of my beliefs and experience based solely on what they see--a white man. In a way then, each person would create me or re-create me through the lens of their particular beliefs of the world. That creation may or may not be accurate.
Few though will stop to question the nature of their own beliefs and will accept their own judgments uncritically as reality itself. When it comes to the question of race, none of us can escape our own ideas, but those ideas can be examined and changed in the light of new information. This article is the first in a series of essays that is devoted to that change, and although I hold no special claims of scholastic expertise in this subject, the source of this knowledge comes through those inscrutable aspects of the mind and soul that speak to us through the language of inspiration, personal revelation, creativity and intuition.
Racism is a touchy subject to be sure, but in order to heal deeply felt wounds we all must be completely honest with ourselves and be willing to not only show understanding and compassion, but even to risk hurting the feelings of those we want to help. Racism can be likened to a virus of beliefs whose ill effects have been long-standing in the world. And although ii has weakened over time in many parts of the world and in many cultures, its poison still undermines the integrity of the minds of so many, limiting the growth and fulfillment of both individuals and nations alike.
So, like a scientist searching for a remedy to a long-standing and deadly virus, I realized that in order to undermine the power of racist thinking, the prescription had to be something that weakened and ultimately destroyed the hypnotic hold of a superior mindset. In order to do this one has to go back to the original ideas that produced such a mentality, show those ideas to be false truths, and then insert new patterns of thinking that unburden the mind and free it to fulfill those potentials of greatness that are within every soul.
In my second essay to follow, I will discuss how it is ultimately every individual's responsibility to examine his or her own ideas on this topic, but in particular, the onus of responsibility for righting the wrong of racism has to be a prescription from the mind of a white man.

Are you failing to create a life for yourself because you're too busy making a living? What are your three year goals? What are your five year goals? What are some of your life goals? If you can't answer these questions, Then you know " you're failing to create a life for yourself because you're too busy making a living." Please take some time to write down your goals with a detailed plan on how to accomplish them. We don't want you to end up like the guy in this story; riding a horse to nowhere fast. Eventually, this is what will happen.

Planting the Seeds of Change

By now you're probably noticing that you're paying more attention to the thoughts you allow into your mind and those that surface that you can recognize as destructive. That's great! Now it's time to begin replacing the old limiting thoughts and beliefs with positive thoughts (which will become beliefs).
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of 'positive affirmations'; maybe you even remember the skit from Saturday Night Live in the 90's in which Stuart Smalley would stand in front of the mirror and repeat, "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And doggone it, people like me." Funny stuff! But that's not what I'm talking about necessarily. In fact, saying positive affirmations that are far from your truth right now can do more harm than good. Why? Because if you know they're completely off the mark, you're taking yourself farther away from the feeling you actually want to create.
Here's an example: Suppose you want to generate more revenue in your business and you know that the rates you currently have in place are not reflective of the value you bring to the business. You want to raise your rates, but hold the belief that if you charge more people may not want to pay it. You fear you may lose customers rather than attract them. If your tried telling yourself, "people will pay me whatever I ask and I'm not afraid to raise my rates", you're lying to yourself, not helping yourself change your belief.
If instead you start by making an incremental change in your belief system you will change your beliefs one shift at a time. Start with changing your thoughts to something that's closer to how you really feel, but a step in the right direction: "I want to believe that I can raise my rates to a figure I feel good about and my customers feel good about." Whenever you think about raising your rates now you will no longer to to the limiting belief, but rather the new belief by default. Can you see how this is working?
When you become comfortable with this new belief you can shift it a little further to something like, "I [do] believe I can raise my rates... " and progress to something like, "I CAN raise my rates... "
So, now you see how simple it really is to replace our old, limiting belief systems with new thoughts that will eventually take their place and become the way we operate in the world. One small shift at at time and you're making some terrific changes!
In Lesson 4 you will be introduced to the role Intention plays in your life and why having your thoughts and beliefs in check are the foundation for creating a life by design, rather than a life by chance.

How Your Mindset Affects Your Reality

Your mind is a funny and curious thing. You see, scientists used to think it was a specific place in your brain, but research into quantum physics tells us 'the mind' is not actually "in" the brain per se, but in every cell of your body. Scientists are still baffled about how this actually works, they just know that it is.
You see, your "mind" is the storagehouse for your thoughts and your collection of beliefs (both your own and those you've adopted from others). They are housed within every cell in your body and their main purpose is to keep you safe.
What does this mean? It means the first time you touch a hot stove and you burn your hand, your mind creates the belief that doing that is dangerous and you should never do that again. So you never do. Well that makes sense doesn't it? It's your mind way of keeping you safe. However, what if the belief your mind creates and runs (on auto-pilot) is one that may have once served you (and no longer does), or perhaps never served you (and you're not aware of it)?
Let's say you had your heart broken by your first love and you set up a belief that falling in love = being hurt, disappointed, abandoned, rejected, distrust of others, etc. Now, the next time you even think about getting close to someone your mind automatically tosses up the belief that it's not safe. Unless you recognize that you're running on old beliefs, and unless you actively shift those beliefs, you will ACT on those beliefs and keep your barriers up, preventing you from experiencing what could be a very happy and loving relationship.
Sadly, most of us have created our belief systems and have them firmly in place from a very young age (before the age of about 7 children are actually unable to distinguish a 'real' belief from a 'false' belief passed to them from outside influences, they simply accept what's presented to them). What does this mean for you? It means that if you do not take a good look at your belief system you will not be able to determine if the choices you are making in your life are based on truth or based on false beliefs.
Making your choices based on false beliefs will keep you from fully experiencing the life you were meant to live.
In conclusion, Your Mind is a Garden in which seeds have been planted, either consciously or unconsciously, and you have the option to either feed those beliefs or let them die. In Lesson 2 you will learn what you can do to uncover the beliefs that are hindering you and replace them with beliefs that work with you, not against you, in creating a more peaceful and prosperous life.

Weeding Out The Limiting Beliefs

Surely by now you know that "thoughts are things", but do you know what that means? It means that thoughts are, in a very real way, the 'seeds' we plant and nurture in our mind that will control our destiny.
In your last lesson you learned that your mind has the power to set the sails and chart your course of action by simply taking the beliefs you hold and putting them on auto-pilot. You now also know the importance of uncovering the beliefs that no longer serve you and uproot them, to be replaced by thoughts (which become beliefs, if you nurture them) that will help you to move toward that which you desire. How quickly you can create positive change in your life depends upon how fertile the soil is and therefore, how easily you can pluck out the destructive beliefs (weeds) and grow the seeds of change.
In this lesson we will focus on uncovering the limiting, or destructive beliefs that no longer serve you. How do you know which ones they are if they're probably on auto-pilot?
Here's the litmus test: before you make a decision about something, notice the thoughts that surface that are trying to guide you to your answer. If they come from a place of love they're working for you; if they come from a place of fear they're working against you.
Let's say you're just getting started building your own business and you know you're passionate about it and you want to do it, but you find yourself keeping it a secret and procrastinating getting the word out, or any number of things that you could be doing to move forward. The problem here is not actually procrastination, but fear. What are you afraid of? Rejection? Judgement? This is where the false beliefs begin to show themselves and where you must be diligent in snatching them where they live and examining them to see if they actually are weeds and then TOSS THEM OUT!
So you're afraid of putting yourself out there and failing, therefore you don't do anything so you don't have to be seen as a failure. That fear is actually keeping you in a state of failure (because it's not letting you reach success, now is it?)... so that is your limiting, or destructive belief which must be uprooted and replaced.
In Lesson 3 you will discover how to plant the seeds that will replace the weeds. Take some time this week to become aware of the beliefs that may be holding you back. You don't have to do anything else right now... just be aware of them. Awareness is the first step to change.

Learn The Power Of Vision!

Do you know the power of your mind? Do you understand what you can create through your vision, your dreams? Learn the power of vision! None of us truly realize the power we have that is just sitting there waiting for us to tap into and use for our own good, and even better for the good of us all and our planet in general!
It has been known for many years that we have no clue as to how much we take for granted, how much power we possess, how clever the mind is, something we simply do not study enough to realize! Does this make you slightly uncomfortable? Well it makes me as mad as hell! I want to know, I want to learn, hey we are here for such a short time and I want the best I can get, don't you?
The thing is this; If we grow as much as we can, then we help others to grow, we cannot help but influence others when we are happy and unaffected by negativity, so then this becomes viral and our world stands a chance of being healthy and at peace!
Ok but first we have to help ourselves and then we can share the joy yes?
I remember my parents struggling day after day and walking around, well more like running actually, trying to stay ahead al the time with stress on their faces. You know they were so young and yet I remember them as old! They did look so much older than their years. But they..and it is not that long ago.. They did not have the opportunities that we have today! They were stuck in old beliefs, and the years rolled on with very little change, and yet now it is so amazingly different!
Gosh I wish my Mum was here to see the opportunity that I have now, to grow and become who and what I want to be, not in the future but NOW today! She was an old fashioned lady but she would be excited to se the chance of growth, unfortunately her old beliefs would create fear in her! I remember her words of caution and fear! You see she projected her fears onto me, and that affected me, it works the other way to, if you have joy, you spread joy!
There is no need for caution and fear anymore is there? We are here to learn as much as possible and grow even more. Do you realize this? Do you know that you have the power to create and design your own life? I am sad that my Parents did not reach this opportunity, but I will honour them by doing the best that I can do for me and mine and all around me!
So how do we create our perfect world? Well it is easy, we just have to learn about our own power, the power in our mind that is capable of anything. You, right now have the power within you to create whatever you want to create, for you your loved ones and the world around you! All you have to do is use your mind, picture in detail the life that you want, feel it, breath it and live it, it is yours!

Training Your Subconscious Mind

We've all heard of incantations in the realm of magic (spelled Magick these days to distinguish it from stage magic) but don't know the true power of incantations.
What is an incantation? An incantation is created by the magic practitioner to bring about some desired results either of good, neutral or evil intent. To the believer these are powerful spells that work; to the unbeliever they are words of pure nonsense.
Incantations do have power. Words have power; the words we speak to ourselves and others have an impact on the mind. These words will cause thought patterns to form in the mind and trigger the subconscious to work in previous programmed ways.
By creating incantations that contain words of power (words that mean something to you) and combining them with a powerful voice and tone they will have great influence on you when spoken.
Incantations are used by many people today but are referred to as "pep-talks", motivational speeches, or prayer. When these incantations are heard they cause your mind to react in a certain way, causing the brain to command the body to respond in certain ways as well.
Speak in a loud excited voice with powerful words that mean something to you and you will actually feel a chill run through your body, the hairs stand up on your neck and arms, your heart beat faster and the body charged with excitement and power.
Creating and repeating incantations on a daily basis can and will have powerful effects on you and others. Repeat a negative incantation to someone every day and they will begin to believe it unless they counter your incantation with one of their own. Example is telling someone they are stupid and worthless will, over a period of time, have powerful negative effects on someone.
Silent incantations work as well, continuing repetition of a silent incantation (internal self-talk) can create very positive or negative results and programs in the subconscious mind.
Some people turn incantations into rituals and spells, using candles, alters, talismans, potions and other props. All these are tools to reinforce the focus of the mind and belief of what the practitioner is doing. Are they necessary? No. Only the power of the mind is needed, all the rest are tools to develop and maintain focus.
Try creating your own incantations that you can repeat daily to yourself. Repeat it every morning and evening, especially before bed as it will reach your subconscious mind as you lay relaxed and drift off to sleep.
Believe or do not, whichever you decide will be the truth. After all YOUR beliefs form your reality and potential.

The Way You Think

The holy Bible tells us that as a man thinks in his heart, that is how he is. The way you think affects you as a person, your organization, your purpose and goals in life and other people. And apart from the obvious implications of negative thinking, every man or woman is responsible for his or her actions in life. Thinking shapes our lives and destiny. When we think positively, we receive positive results, whereas negative thinking brings about negative results. Success in life comes as a result of positive thinking, and determination to follow up your vision in life.
It has been said that success has both mother and father, only failure is an orphan. To be a success, one requires not only hard work but absolute faith in God. The Bible tells us that God is like a very good Father. He loves people like a father loves his children. He wants to save us from the trouble that comes from doing wrong. He wants to teach us what is the right and good way to follow. He wants to help us do what is right.
With God's guidance, we have peace of mind which has no substitute - the peace that comes as a result of confidence and not pride; the peace that is rooted in cooperation with others and not from selfishness. Success gives us an edge in life. It makes us to understand that we are no longer at the bottom rungs of the society but have assumed the status of leadership. When we think like minors, we receive the rewards of minors. Proper thinking lets us into the realm of the supernatural where we see leadership as nothing but a selfless service.
Leadership has never been about position, not possession or what you get; it is not about contribution or being green; leadership is all about leading a people or championing a course. The position does not make a leader but a leader makes a position. It is your impact in the field that defines you as a leader. Since leadership is all about excelling in life, every man is created by God with potentials that will help him reach his destination. However, since no product determines the purpose in the markets; it is the manufacturer who does, and so God has designed man to always take the leading role. It is the way you think that affects you, to either remain on top or stay below!

Mind Development

At the ripe old age of 65, and nearing full retirement age, may I be of some inspiration to the many individuals world-wide, and state quite clearly, that life certainly begins at 65.
I my case, after a long, and successful career in the Leisure Business, my mind is clearly focused on helping as many people as I can, to seriously look into the personal development arena.
The mind, to say the least, is a very complex piece of equipment, far superior to the most up to date computer, and certainly, a subject, the most eminent scientist finds difficult to comprehend.
It is believed that the human being only uses 10% of the brains full capacity. How true this is I really can't say, but what I can tell you is this.
I am a firm believer in "The Law Of Attraction"and of course the teachings as outlined in the well known movie titled the "Secret"
We all have the desire to be successful in life, but, for one reason or another, only a few aspire to real riches, and success.
Like myself, I would imagine that many people trawl the internet, on a daily basis looking for that very special opportunity, that they hope will change their life forever.

The power of our brain is a magnificent entity. Such is the case, that it is scientifically proven, that we can successfully improve our lifestyle, develop our mind for optimum, well-being, health, and happiness.
It has become well established, that by programming the mind, with the delivery of subliminal messages, we can effectively re-train our brain to achieve many improvements to our lifestyles.
I want to stop smoking, I want to stop drinking excessively, I want to conquer my fear of spiders, I want to earn more money, I want a happier, and more fulfilled live.
If like myself, you are a sceptical person, you would want to explore such bold statements in more detail, and I don't blame you.
The mind is made up of two parts, the conscious, and the sub-conscious. It is possible to deliver subliminal messages to the sub-conscious, via pictures, or statements, which in turn, result in remarkable improvements to our self-development.

Friends and Associates - Are They Right for You?

It is a statistically proven that we are products of our individual environment. Which is to say that the people, places and things with which we are surrounded greatly influences what we feel and think and the way we believe. And these things have led us into being what we are today. This is also to affirm that whatever degree of success we have obtained up to this point, is well....determined by the thoughts that our environment has guided us to think. Since what we are today is the result of the totality of all the sensations we have experienced {real or imaginary}. It is of the utmost importance therefore, don't you agree, that we surround ourselves with an environment which will result in not only the experience of sensations, which are not only the most enjoyable but are also the sensations that we have chosen in advance, pre-determine our experiences. Then we can also pre-decide, or pre-determine sensations that we will experience as well as how we will feel about these sensations. In other words, pre-determine what we will think. To control what we think and feel is the development of an attitude, which is in direct proportion to the raw material used in its development.
To briefly explore this, you are hungry in an area with which you are not familiar. You travel along a street lined with restaurants until you find the restaurants which catches you fancy. So, for whatever reason that something is, you pull into the parking lot. You have the concept of what you want the restaurant to look like inside, the kind of food it serves and how the food is prepared, how the food will look and taste. So you think to yourself, if it looks and tastes the way I imagine it will, I think I will have __________ to drink. And then after I have finished the meal I think I will have ___________ afterward, as a dessert. With my stomach full of that good food I will then have_________..... So on and so on. So you write the scenario even before you walk through the door of the restaurant. You experience the full stomach and exuberant attitude, being totally aware of what must take place before hand to obtain the desired results of a deliciously satisfied hunger.
Now these kind of cognitive processes we go through every day. Planning your environment requires that same kind of processes, and since we do this type of analysis and planning all during our wakening hours, we know that the actual process is no big deal. But yet we spend more time planning our shopping list or our vacation than planning for a successful rewarding life. Why? There are a multitude of reasons, some of which are.
1.) It takes constructed, organized thinking towards a specific and.
2.) It takes an honest evaluation of one's self and one's environment and its components, people places and things and what affect these components have on ones thinking and feeling.
3.) It takes controlled concentration.
4.) It takes futuristic visualization. The ability to visualized his or her future, as he or she wants it. This is a very important task. One must know where one is going, or where one wants to go before one can even begin to devise a plan on how to get there.
5.) It takes intestinal fortitude to resolve to remove from your environment that which have a negative impact on your life, and replace them with that which aids you in reaching you goal. Of all these most difficult one is the last, because one of the elements in our environment is people, our loved ones, our friends, our relatives, and our associates. And, how do we deal with this? Lets try to deal with these in order.
A.) Organized thinking toward a specific end. We spend most of our waking hours thinking. Of as I read somewhere, we sit on the shores of our minds watching the stream of memories for our past and the fears of our future go flowing past. But is this really thinking? We all know, don't we, that the past is gone forever and cannot be re-lived however hard we try. And is it not so that about ninety percent ( 90%) of the things we worry about never come to past? So if this comprises the preponderance of our mental exercises then is it not also true that we spend most of our lives engaged in futile mental exercise which produces little to nothing. AT the same time we are letting years, which could be used building success, just waste away? Do you know that most of us do not know that he himself is responsible for his own failure or success? So, much mental energy is wasted on frivolous things that he never realizes that "Hey I can make it happen". Concentrate your mental energy on thinking of what you want and the way you want things to be. This might be the first time you will begin to question the effect your present environment, especially the people and things in it, have on you thinking and therefore your life. Now that you have changed the innermost environment first, your own mind, develop a more positive attitude. Everyday read motivational and self-help literature so hat you intensity and maintain that positive attitude every single day. Concentrate you mental energy on what you want to be, actually see yourself as you want to be. Think the thoughts and do the things that such a person would actually do. Be that person in your own mind, do this everyday all day and watch the success come.
B.) It takes an honest evaluation of one's self and one's situation. If you have followed step one you may now know how you want yourself and your environment to be. Does your present environment meet these criteria? Take a good hard look, you must know if you ever hope to change it. Consider yourself as you would like to be. Can your current environment contribute to your desired success, especially the people? Have they been a positive force before, are they a positive force now? Can you share your aspirations with them and receive their support and help? Is your personal environment a source of constant aspiration and support?
C.) It takes controlled concentration: Answering some of these questions now maybe somewhat difficult, because you have not yet had a chance to develop controlled concentration. The ability which allows you to maintain a vision long enough for your mind to process it.
D.) Futuristic visualization: You will not be able to understand the importance of the effect your environment has on your success until you can actually see yourself being a success. And actually see what kind of people will be in you life then. The Ideal environment then is the environment, especially the people in it, who should be the same as the environment in your vision of your future. They should be supportive, inspiring and understanding. They should also be successful in their pursuit of their own achievement, or at least aspiring to be successful. They should be positive thinking. The best kind of people to surround yourself with is someone who is already what you aspire to be. Someone you can learn from. It's easier to maintain you vision if you live in it. Because all of the ingredients of you vision is already there. The only thing missing is your attainment of some of the success you surround yourself with. So if your current circle of friends and associates do not have any of these attributes of the people in your vision, If your current circle fosters negatives thinking and failure, maybe its time to change the components of your environment.
E.) It takes intestinal fortitude: to remove from your environment that which has a negative impact on your life and replace it (or them) with things which aids us in reaching our goals. Especially so because this includes our loved ones, the friends and associates who have become a part of us, it seems. And the pain of just thinking about this usually is enough to abort this kind of thinking. But we are, nevertheless, faced with a decision. Do I really want to be successful? That is, do I want to pay the price? We know there is really is no free lunch, so to speak. It's sometimes a very painful step. But if you want something bad enough then you will inevitably pay the price for it. How can we expect success to be any different?

How to Train Your Subconscious - Continued

We have learned that the subconscious mind acquires knowledge through repetition, not by logic. We also know that it will respond to impressions, suggestions, desires, expectations, and directions coming from the conscious mind provided that they are interfacing as these directions are being made. Lastly, we have also learned that for this to occur, the mind must be in a meditative state, calm and poised.
This meditative condition is also referred to as the Alpha state. Alpha is one of several electrical brainwave rhythms that are emitted by human beings. These brainwave rhythms are measured via an Electroencephalogram or EEG. Alpha rhythms are 8 to 12 cycles per second (cps). The other brainwave rhythms are Beta, 13 to 30 cps; Delta, 0.05 to 3 cps; and Theta, 4 to 7 cps.
A number of companies specialize in the area of deep brain stimulation. The theory behind this is that when the mind is in a deep meditative state, when it is relaxed and when the usual defenses are down, the subconscious mind is more malleable and, thus, more open to reprogramming. This procedure is used in combination with sealed flotation tanks, magnetic fields, and sound frequencies for cortical stimulation.
The same technology has been applied into finding cures for such illnesses as Parkinson's disease, amnesia, and dementia. It has also been thoroughly researched and applied as an aid in hastening the recovery and promoting the well-being of chronic patients.
It is important to train the subconscious mind because of the fact that it is susceptible to both positive and negative thoughts. When the subconscious is not trained to focus on positive thoughts, there is a risk that negative thoughts will infiltrate into it. Thereby ensuring that these negative thoughts become reality.
Following are some techniques that can be utilized to harness the power of the subconscious mind:
Affirmations. "I feel great." "Today is light and easy." "It's getting better and better everyday." These statements or variations of them need be consistently but gently repeated to oneself. It doesn't matter if they are said out loud or quietly. There is a need focus all your attention on the affirmation while excluding any other distractions or random thoughts. These affirmation needs to be repeated for five minutes on a daily basis. The change might not come immediately but it will affect the way you feel as the day progress.
Aside from the daily repetition of affirmations, these can also be written down. This technique will also imprint their importance within your subconscious. An additional benefit is that you will have a list available within easy reach, which will also remind you to think of positive thoughts. A self-recorded tape of affirmations can also work for some people. Some will identify a role model they would like to emulate and include those traits in their positive affirmations. This method also gives you a concrete goal to work towards.
Visualization. This is a methodology that has been proven effective in helping people change habits or achieve goals. The idea behind it is to visualize what you want. The technique involves relaxation exercises coupled with positive imaging. The process works because the human mind experiences reality and visualization in the same manner. It is incapable of distinguishing between what is real or not.
When you have visualized what you want via your subconscious, you will be able to easily recognize an opportunity when it presents itself.
Visualization must be done on a daily basis. The more you practice the technique, the easier it becomes. You need to visualize for at least five minutes daily.
It is important to have your end point clearly mapped out in your mind when visualizing. Strong feelings should also be associated with the scene being visualized in order to increase its intensity. The rule is: The more intense the associated feeling, the more effective the visualization.
There are a number of visualization techniques that are currently available. Some simply use their imagination and play scenes in their minds. Some people collect pictures of things they want, put them into an album or a collage, which they then look at when doing their daily visualizations. Some make what are called mind movies or simply download them from the Internet.
Feeling Good. Good results can come from simply focusing on feeling good. When we feel great, great things happen. This is not simple coincidence. The truth is our life is a reflection of how we feel.
A final word: To fully and effectively harness the power of the subconscious mind, one needs to have patience. This is unfortunate because today's society is full of people who demand instant gratification.
Keep in mind that when we don't trust and accept that things have a way of working out in the end, we actually get slowed down. We get distracted and even end up on the wrong track.
Remember that success does not happen overnight.
